11+ Verbal Reasoning
Verbal Reasoning tests examine childrens’ problem solving skills using words and letters whilst working at speed.
Children be will assessed on:

The application of basic maths skills
Verbal reasoning is not delivered in primary schools due to it not being on the National Curriculum, therefore many students may be unfamiliar with these types of questions and assessments.
11+ Non-verbal Reasoning
11+ Non-verbal reasoning tests, assess a candidate’s aptitude for spatial awareness.

The general demands of these tests are:

Application of logical thinking and problem solving skills

Be able to identify and continue patterns and sequences
As a result, non-verbal reasoning tests determine a student’s logical thinking.
Both the verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning tests are used by secondary schools to assess the innate ability of students, alongside their suitability for the school.
Like verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning is not on the National Curriculum, hence is not delivered in primary schools. Therefore, many students may be unfamiliar with these types of questions and assessments.

11+ Maths
The 11+ maths tests necessitate students to obtain strong core maths skills.
Fundamentally, the maths tests are based on what students have been taught during Key Stage 2, albeit the questions are at a more difficult level than what they would have experienced in the classroom.
The 11+ maths tests require students to use their logic with regards to the mathematical methods needed to approach mental maths and multi-step problems.
The broad spectrum of maths principles and concepts that the 11+ maths tests cover are:

The 11+ Maths tests vary from region to region, thus it is best to contact the schools of interest for further information with regards to the tests that they set.
The demands of the 11+ maths tests exceed that of what is delivered to the students in the classroom.

Recognise simple recurring literacy language in stories and poetry

Be able to write narratives, poetry; and about different events, alongside different purposes

Be able to evaluate their own writing

At the end of key stage 2​

Be able to include varied grammar, vocabulary and narrative structures from which they can express their views

Spell common words and exception words, using their phonic knowledge and knowledge of spellings such as morphology and etymology

Read most words effortlessly and work out how to pronounce unfamilar written words with increasing automaticity

Grammar and punctuation should be broadly accurate

Reading and writing should be both fluent and effortless
GCSE Business & Economics

Students are expected to know key contemporary developments, such as: digital technology, business ethics and globalisation.

At A-level Economics, students need to be aware of developments in the UK economy and government policies over the past fifteen years. Students will need to be aware of microeconomics topics: individuals, firms, markets and market failure; macroeconomics topics: national and international economy.
